Survey - Arts in the Dyfi: Results
August 29, 2022

The survey which 138 local people responded to delved into public sentiment regarding the provision of local arts within the Dyfi area. It covered various dimensions, including one's affinity with the arts, the ease of discovering events, and the perceived significance of different elements. Respondents shared their assessments of their connectedness (averaging at 2.9/5), event discoverability (averaging at 3.2/5), and the importance placed on features such as a local radio station (3.4/5), creative workshops (4.0/5), and community cinema screenings (4.3/5).

The feedback spotlighted several desires: a central hub for streamlined information dissemination, enhanced accessibility for those with full-time commitments, a physical space where artists could gather, collaborate, and sell their creations, and more opportunities for knowledge-sharing. Noteworthy are the expressions of contentment about recent workshops and suggestions for new creative avenues like a graffiti wall, crafting sessions in the evenings, and a comprehensive community arts calendar.

Contributors underlined the positive influence of arts on community unity, advocated for inclusive artistic pursuits, and proposed the concept of a coordinated arts schedule. Local initiatives garnered appreciation, notably a communal creative space and workshops focusing on electronic music. The notion of inter-organizational cooperation emerged, alongside a call for an all-inclusive publication chronicling artistic events.

Overall, there was a palpable recognition of the sincere efforts channeled into nurturing the local arts scene. The enthusiasm extended particularly towards two pillars: Community Cinema Screenings achieved a remarkable rating of 4.3 out of 5, echoing the community's fervent desire for cinematic engagement, while the importance of a Local Radio Station was affirmed with a solid average rating of 3.4 out of 5. These aspects serve as integral cornerstones, weaving vibrancy and cultural enrichment into the fabric of the Dyfi area.
